Harvest Energy
Ion Equity acquired Harvest Energy in December 2007, a business supplying, blending and marketing road fuels in the UK and international markets. The business trades as Harvest Energy in the UK but as Blue Ocean Group on international markets.
Operating from a number of leased facilities across the UK and the Netherlands, Harvest trades and blends petrol and diesel fuels, supplying approximately 7% of all road fuels used in the UK through customers including major supermarket chains and transport operators.
Under its ownership, Ion Equity worked with Harvest management to move the business from a trader-led, higher risk business, to a more predictable blending and marketing business. Ion also led the strategic expansion of Harvest through the construction of a new fuel terminal in Amsterdam for the business and the takeover of a biofuel plant in Teesside.
Ion Equity exited its investment in Harvest Energy in 2012.
